One of my favorite things about this book is the feeling described by Amir about the remembrance he feels when returning to Afghanistan. For example, when he is going back to Kabul, he feels nostalgic about the times he experienced when he departed on a trip there with his father many years previous. This feeling is shown through vivid imagery. "...Baba and I had driven through the broken terrain back in 1974. The arid, imposing mountains sat along deep gorges and soared to jagged peaks. Old fortresses, adobe-walled and crumbling, topped the crags." This line from the text shows the feeling of nostalgia because he remembers the last time he had been here and remebers it vividly. The way he depicts the scene such as, "deep gorges" and "jagged peaks", shows that he really did enjoy the trip.
